Coaching Agreement Terms
COACHING DEFINITION
Coaching is a partnership, exclusively about you and for you. It is a future-focused, positive, creative and supportive environment to facilitate self-awareness, new thinking, insight, and discovery. It is also a place for accountability where you access your own knowledge, wisdom, and resources to formulate and complete actions that generate positive change and propel you forward to realise your goals and unleash your potential.
COACH RESPONSIBILITIES
Your coach agrees to:
1. Adhere to the International Coaching Federation’s Code of Ethics and Competency Framework. (https://coachingfederation.org/ethics/code-of-ethics)
2. Hold your coaching relationship and all information you share with her/him as strictly confidential, except when disclosure is required by law or when there is a risk of harm to self or others.
3. Bring to your coaching sessions her/his full attention, robust coaching processes, structures and approaches as well as up to date and relevant knowledge from ongoing professional development, study, and supervision.
4. Stretch and challenge you, in a supportive and empowering manner, to keep you moving toward the realisation of your goals.
5. Be alert to a change in the value you obtain or the coaching effectiveness and openly raise this with you and make the necessary changes, refer you to someone else or discontinue your coaching partnership.
COACHEE RESPONSIBILITIES
As the coachee I:
1. Will take full responsibility for my physical, mental and emotional well-being during my coaching sessions, including my choices and decisions.
2. Agree to use coaching for the intended purposes and not as a substitute for mentoring, training or mental health care (such a counselling or therapy) nor for professional advice by legal, medical, financial, business, spiritual or other professionals.
3. Commit to attending scheduled sessions on-time and in full, to completing agreed actions between each session and to allocate sufficient time otherwise to work towards my agreed goals.
4. Take responsibility for my own success and results and acknowledge that the coach makes no guarantees or warranties about any results achieved.
5. Understand I can discontinue the coaching partnership at any time.
COACHEE PERMISSIONS
As the coachee I give permission for:
1. My name, email and coaching hours to appear in the coach’s log for submission to the International Coaching Federation for ongoing credentialing purposes.
2. Certain topics or situations to be shared anonymously and hypothetically for ongoing coaching professional development and supervision purposes.
